Sturgis, SD (April 13, 2023): The Best Party Anywhere® will celebrate the start of the 83rd Sturgis Rally with the largest kickoff party the Sturgis Rally has ever seen. The Buffalo Chip’s Official Sturgis Rally Kickoff™ will feature the bearded giants of classic rock and biker favorites ZZ Top. To help ZZ Top kick off the rally in style, the Buffalo Chip will host the Support Bikers Moto Meetup, the Full Throttle Magazine Official Rally Kickoff bike show, a parade into the amphitheater, a beer wall smash stunt in honor of Sturgis Rally founder Pappy Hoel’s original fire wall smash stunt and so much more. In addition, the Chip has allied with the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce on the Sturgis Battle of the Bands, with the competition’s winner receiving a set in front of ZZ Top. Heli-Expo 2023 (March 8, 2023). Bell and Sturgis Buffalo Chip announced their plans to host the first Helicopter Rally during the 2023 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. This will be the second year Bell will exhibit and provide demonstration flights in the Bell 407GXi and Bell 429, operating out of the Buffalo Chip venue.

(January 3, 2023): The Sturgis Buffalo Chip Motorcycles As Art Exhibition is changing format for its upcoming 15th anniversary as the exhibition’s curator, photographer Michael Lichter, moves into an advisory role. Following an incredible run of 14 themed exhibitions at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip, Lichter will showcase his own work at the 2023 Motorcycles As Art exhibition, leading a group of known and emerging artists and builders. Of course, Michael will be seen all around the Black Hills as he continues to document the rally, as he has done for over 40 years.
