Buffalo Chip Awards Challenge Scholarships

Buffalo Chip, SD (May 5, 2016) – In an ongoing effort to inspire Black Hills students to discover a career in the expanding world of motorcycle engineering and manufacturing and prepare the next generation of American motorcycle craftsmen, Sturgis Buffalo Chip® president, Rod Woodruff today announced the winners of the 2016 Buffalo Chip ChallengeTM scholarship awards. Three outstanding Black Hills students have been chosen to receive awards totaling $8,500. The Buffalo Chip collaborates with some of the motorcycle industry’s leading professionals to offer a free industrial education and scholarship program to Black Hills students, enabling them to take hold of dreams that might otherwise seem impossible.

Buffalo Chip Challenge™ Students’ Hard Work Pays Off at Donnie Smith Show

Rapid City, SD (April 4, 2016) – Months of hard work paid off for a group of Black Hills area high school students this weekend. The group, participating in the 2016 Buffalo Chip Challenge, earned two first place awards April 2 at the prestigious Donnie Smith Bike & Car Show in St. Paul, Minn. The student-built Buffalo Chip Challenge bikes, a fully customized 2016 Victory Cross Country and 2015 Indian Chief Classic each earned first place honors in the open class. The students competed against professional custom bike builders, which makes winning these awards an even more remarkable achievement.

Sturgis Buffalo Chip® Upholds American Rock Tradition

Buffalo Chip, SD (March 29, 2016) – A 35-year tradition of presenting the best in American classic rock will continue as the Sturgis Buffalo Chip is bringing back one of its most requested bands, Lynyrd Skynyrd, for a performance on Monday, Aug. 8. The band has become the standard bearer of classic American rock at the Largest Music Festival in MotorcyclingTM, carrying the torch of freedom and independence through their music. Lynyrd Skynyrd has created a legacy much larger than their 30 million albums sold–breaking down generational barriers and becoming a standard in motorcycle culture. 29th Annual Donnie Smith Bike and Car Show Kicks Off Season

Saint Paul, MN (March 23, 2016) – The Midwest’s largest custom bike and car show will kick off the new riding season April 2-3 at the St. Paul RiverCentre. The 29th annual Dennis Kirk‘s Donnie Smith Bike & Car Show will offer over 200,000 square feet jam packed with some of the country’s best custom motorcycles, cars, trucks, free entertainment and a swap meet billed as the largest parts extravaganza on the planet.

Buffalo Chip Challenge™ Students Score at Black Hills Motorcycle Show

Rapid City, SD (March 21, 2016) – Black Hills area high school students participating in the 2016 Buffalo Chip Challenge scored their first big win this weekend at the Black Hills Motorcycle Show. Just days after completing two world-class, custom baggers, the students unveiled the bikes at the Black Hills show and received two first place trophies. The students will now take the motorcycles on to compete at the prestigious Donnie Smith Bike and Car Show in St. Paul, Minn. on April 2 & 3.

Legendary Promoter Disappears Before Anniversary Announcement

Buffalo Chip, SD (Feb. 23, 2016) – Sturgis Buffalo Chip president, legendary promoter Rod “Woody” Woodruff, disappeared just weeks before making his third big 35th anniversary concert announcement. Woodruff had been contemplating a startling addition to the 2016 line-up when he unexpectedly went missing. Family, friends and staff were baffled by Woodruff’s sudden disappearance and had been searching for him when he was discovered in an office broom closet.
