Would you like to see a courageous war veteran receive his due during the Sturgis Rally? If so, then join the Chip as we celebrate a brave veteran who has served his country to the fullest. As part of the annual Freedom Celebration the Buffalo Chip is hosting a special Sturgis Rally presentation where one vet will receive a mortgage-free home from Wells Fargo!
On Thursday, Aug. 7, you can help the Chip® celebrate the service of Tom Jacobson, a Marine Corps rifleman who was severely injured by a roadside bomb in Iraq in 2007.
A Little Falls, Minn. native, Jacobson entered the military as a senior in high school. He wanted to improve his life and to “uphold the freedoms, constitution, and the bill of rights we have all inherited.”
On Aug. 25, 2007, Jacobson and his fellow Marine Corps platoon members were traveling in a Humvee on a mission to evacuate a team of snipers whose position had become compromised. The Humvee came into contact with a command-detonated IED, killing the vehicle’s driver and injuring Jacobson and two others.
Jacobson suffered minor burns to his face and arms, shattered his heel bone, fractured his shinbone, and fractured his knee cap.
A recipient of the Purple Heart and Combat Action Ribbon, the Sturgis Buffalo Chip cannot think of a better recipient for this award than Jacobson, who is attending Saint Paul College and hopes to eventually teach history at the college level.
You won’t want to miss the chance to see this powerful presentation on the Buffalo Chip’s Wolfman Jack Main Stage between headlining performances from Pop Evil and Train.
Be sure to honor all military veterans during the Sturgis Rally with the Chip’s Freedom Celebration Ride, a national anthem performance from the USAF Academy’s Wild Blue Country, and military tributes on display at the Buffalo Chip’s free-access CrossRoads destination including the Field of Flags, Battlefield Cross Memorial and American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) Wall.
The Buffalo Chip has honored our nation’s military members and veterans with the Freedom Celebration for 23 years. Join the Chip to help celebrate the sacrifices these heroes have made for us.
