Kids Catch Riding Bug (Or So Hope Black Hills Harley-Davidson and Strider)

How old were you when you first realized you were destined for life on a motorcycle? While it may not have been until your teens, twenties or even later that you found your way to a motor, chances are your love of two-wheeled travel started when you first learned to ride a bicycle.

Now, thanks to Black Hills Harley-Davidson and Strider, 900 local kids each year could be picking up on that passion before they even hit the first grade.

Earlier this week, Black Hills Harley received a shipment of 375 Strider bikes it plans to gift to kindergarten P.E. classrooms across Rapid City.

Donnie Smith Show and War of the Twins Kick Off 2018 Riding Season

Thunder and lightning. Mashed potatoes and gravy. Peanut butter and jelly. Some things just go hand in hand. For those of us in the Midwest, frigid temps and parked rides can be a less desirable pairing we’re forced to contend with. How Staying at the Chip Will Change Now that Buffalo Chip, SD is a Town

As you’ve likely heard by now, the South Dakota Supreme Court issued a decision on Thursday, January 25, 2018, that ruled in favor of the Town of Buffalo Chip’s 2015 incorporation.

This announcement has raised a lot of questions among those of you who love staying at the Chip each year. While many of those inquiries varied, they really all boiled down to one simple question– “How will staying at the Chip change now that Buffalo Chip, SD is a town?”

Breaking News Update! Buffalo Chip First Town Built By Bikers For Bikers

Hello from the newest town in South Dakota… And likely the United States. Maybe even the entire world– Buffalo Chip, SD!

On Thursday, January 25, 2018, the South Dakota Supreme Court released a 16-page statement reversing a previous fourth circuit court decision ruling against the Meade County Board of Commissioners last year. The latest Supreme Court decision rules in favor of the Town of Buffalo Chip’s 2015 incorporation.

December 17, 2017 Update – 95 Percent Containment, Some Roads and Parks to Reopen

Crews have been able to continue to hold containment lines and carry on with mop up efforts throughout the weekend. Although the total numbers of acres burned has increased to 54,023, the Legion Lake Fire has now reached 95 percent containment.

Donnie Smith Show 2017: The Coolest Custom Motorcycles and Cars

Living in the Midwest over the winter definitely comes with its fair share of drawbacks if you’re a motorcycle or car enthusiast. But each year when the world starts to thaw, the Donnie Smith Bike and Car Show more than makes up for lost time. On March 25 and 26, 2017, gear-heads, celebrities, custom enthusiasts and their families flocked to the RiverCentre in St. Paul, Minn. to experience the show’s monumental 30th anniversary. While checking out the hundreds of amazing custom motorcycles and cars kept the crowd buzzing with excitement, narrowing them down to select winners in 35 motorcycle classes and 22 car classes had to be a tough gig. Now that all the deliberating is out of the way, you can see which customs rose to the top and which stuck in attendees’ minds by checking out these highlights.

RIP – Ensuring the Legacy of Bob Hanson

None of us is truly gone until there’s no one left who remembers us. This thought came to mind when I learned of the passing of Bob Hanson. After 98 years serving God and man, Bob Hanson, an undisputed American hero, arrived at his final resting place in Black Hills National Cemetery on January 30, 2017 – but he is not forgotten. Hanson’s legacy was ensured in 2014 when the Sturgis Buffalo Chip instituted the Bob Hanson Distinguished Service Award as part of their annual Freedom Celebration & Ride.

Motorcycle Daredevil Doug Danger Announces Another World Record Jump Attempt and Inspires New Song

When Daredevil Doug Danger flew across the Buffalo Chip amphitheater in 2015 on Evel Knievel’s XR750 Harley he set a record Knievel himself never made and inspired many. When Danger jumped again in Austin this year during the Republic of Texas Rally and announced plans to achieve a new world record in 2017, Austin-based singer/songwriter Jonathan Terrell was impressed, too. Sitting on Knievel’s iconic Harley, owned by EK collector Lathan McKay, Terrell became galvanized by the ghost in the machine and moved by Danger’s remarkable courage—and he wrote a song about it all.
