They say good things come to those who wait. For Vanessa Roscamp, three years of dedication and personal transformation was what it took for her to win the title of Buffalo Chip Poster Model. For those of you who have been following along with her journey, as well as the rest of the fantastic finalists, your wait is over, too. The photos have arrived!
You’ll have plenty of opportunities throughout the summer to meet Vanessa, pick up a copy of the poster bearing her likeness and get her signature. In the meantime, here’s your chance to learn a little more about her and take a sneak peek into the final photo shoot that wrapped the 2024 Buffalo Chip Poster Model Search presented by Twisted Tea, Pepsi, Fozzy’s Cycle Shop, High Seas Rally, Snap-on Tools of the Black Hills, Silverado Franklin, ULTRAFREE and XRock.
Vanessa credits the amazing women who have participated in the Poster Model Search with giving her the confidence to win.
“When I first entered this competition, I was very shy and unsure of myself. Over the years, I have gotten to meet so many incredible people, many of whom I now call my friends. I’ve taken the influence of so many strong, fearless, intelligent women and learned to bring out a confidence in myself that I didn’t know I had.”
Being a part of the search helped transform the way she carried herself.
“This competition has brought so much more to my life than just the opportunity itself. Because of this competition, I now carry myself with love and care. I believe in myself, and I’m so incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped me achieve that.”
You may be meeting Vanessa here for the first time, but she loves the motorcycle community and has been part of it since she was a kid.
“It’s always been one big family to me. No matter where in the world we are, we can always find each other to share in all the good, and the bad. For a ride and a beer, a hug and a laugh.”
Having lived in the Black Hills of South Dakota for her whole life, Vanessa has been able to log countless miles on some of the world’s best riding roads.
“My favorite ride has always been Needles Highway and the Wildlife Loop in Custer State Park.”
When you meet her in real life, she’ll probably try to make you laugh.
She says her favorite way to break the ice with someone new is to “just be goofy and make them laugh. Everyone is at ease when they are laughing.”
Vanessa poses in the photo above with the Spirit of the Chip award. Throughout the year, the Buffalo Chip travels to custom motorcycle shows across the country, awarding guitars like this one to bikes and builders that represent the spirit of rebellion from which the Buffalo Chip was born, along with the custom motorcycle culture so prevalent there.
Vanessa has a laid-back attitude and is easy to be around.
Her best advice: “Don’t sweat the small stuff.”
Vanessa was an absolute pro during her eight-hour-long photo shoot.
Of course, time flies by fast whenever you’ve got a Twisted Tea in your hand or you’ve got your leg over the top of the Buffalo Chip B4, a custom Indian Challenger from Lloyd’z Garage.
This bike will be up for grabs during the Legends Ride® auction on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024.
Vanessa has a wide-ranging taste in music that meshes well the variety fans like you can experience at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip.
Though her favorite band is Def Leppard, she says the Limp Bizkit concert in 2023 was the best show she’s attended at the Buffalo Chip. She thinks she’d be starstruck if she ever met Dolly Parton and is real curious to know what’s going on in Ozzy Osbourne’s mind all day.
Vanessa is hopeful her winning streak might continue.
If she ends up winning the lottery, she’s got a plan: “Hire an attorney. They know how to deal with it much better than me!
The biggest risk Vanessa has ever taken was starting her own business. Ten years later, she says she is “still killing it.”
You may wonder…how will Vanessa balance the responsibilities of running a business with being the face of the Best Party Anywhere? Lucky for all of us, she’s hired someone to cover her for the time being, so she can fully dedicate herself to meeting Buffalo Chip fans like you!
With her free pass to the party in hand, you can count on seeing her at tons of events throughout the Black Hills this summer, including the Largest Music Festival in Motorcycling®!
